Defence Chief Tasks Troops on Loyalty, Patriotism

The Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Christopher Musa, has charged troops of Operation Delta Safe to remain loyal and committed to the nation’s security.

He also warned them to avoid being used by enemies of the nation in undermining its progress.

The CDS, who spoke at the Eid El-Kabir luncheon celebration at the Port Harcourt barracks also encouraged the troops to resist the temptation of being used by forces that seek to destroy the nation’s economy.

According to him, their role is to provide solutions and not become part of the country’s problems.

Musa, who conveyed the commendation, felicitation, and appreciation of President Bola Tinubu to the troops, reiterated the importance of their loyalty and dedication to the nation’s security.

He said the military was making significant progress, in spite of the challenging terrain which often made it difficult for others to understand troops’ experiences.

He said: “We recognize and appreciate your efforts and commitment to our region. Your dedication, sacrifices, and hard work do not go unnoticed, especially on this special day of celebration.

”Operation Delta Safe plays a vital role in protecting our national assets, maintaining stability in the region, and promoting economic growth.

“Your unwavering vigilance and professionalism in combating criminal elements, oil thieves, and other security threats are truly commendable and deserve recognition.”

Musa said Nigeria was winning the war against economic sabotage, noting also that the military was gaining the upper hand in the fight against economic sabotage.

He noted that oil production had increased significantly, with a target of two million barrels per day well within reach, and vowed to crack down on any collusion between personnel and economic saboteurs, promising swift punishment for offenders.

Earlier in his remarks, Commander of the Joint Task Force, South-South, overseeing Operation Delta Safe, Admiral John Okeke, said the operation had achieved major successes in anti-economic sabotage campaign.

He revealed that the operation has achieved significant milestones in its kinetic and non-kinetic operations, substantially shaping the operational environment and yielding notable successes.
