Kano Civil Society Forum: Newly Elected Excos Commend Stakeholders for Hitch-Free Exercise
The newly elected executive members of the Kano Civil Society Forum (KCSF) have expressed their appreciation to all stakeholders who contributed to the successful conduct of the first ever democratic electoral process witnessed by the forum.
This information was disclosed in a statement signed and made available to newsmen today in Kano by the President-Elect, Mohammed Bello and Secretary General-Elect Salisu Yusuf.
According to them, the electoral process would not have been successfully conducted without the sacrifice of the stakeholders who stand firmly towards achieving this targeted objective.
They appreciate the tireless efforts of the Electoral Committee, that worked diligently to ensure a free, fair, and transparent process as well as Board of Trustees (BoT) of KCSF under the Chairmanship of Professor Mohammed Tabi’u (SAN), who provided guidance and support throughout the election process.
The newly elected excos have equally commend the efforts of security forces including, Police, Department of State Service, DSS, and Civil Defence whose presence on ground ensured adequate security for the peaceful conduct of the election.
Furthermore, the statement noted the contribution of other various institutions and bodies including Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and the Media who served as observers during the election.
Recall that the affairs of KCSF has been spearheaded by an interim leadership for more than 10 years since establishment of the forum.
However, Mohammed Bello, the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of the African Center for Innovative Research and Development, AFRI-CIRD, was elected as the pioneer President of the forum over the weekend after beating his opponent, Ibrahim Waiya.

“The Kano Civil Society Forum (KCSF) is pleased to announce the successful conduct of its first-ever democratic elections, marking a significant milestone in the Forum’s history. The election, which took place on Saturday 8th June 2024 at NUJ Centre, Farm Centre, Kano state, saw the emergence of Mr Mohammed Bello as the democratically elected President of KCSF, defeating Mr Ibrahim Waiya, who had been the head of the caretaker committee for several years. The election also produced 14 council executive members.
“The KCSF would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to all the stakeholders who made this historic event a success. We appreciate the tireless efforts of the Electoral Committee under the Chairmanship of Mallam Hamisu Isah Sheriffai, who worked diligently to ensure a free, fair, and transparent process. Their professionalism and dedication to the cause of democracy are truly commendable.
“We also extend our gratitude to the Board of Trustees (BoT) of KCSF under the Chairmanship of Professor Mohammed Tabi’u (SAN), who provided guidance and support throughout the election process. Their leadership and vision have been instrumental in the growth and development of our Forum.
“We would like to thank the various institutions and bodies who served as observers during the election. Their presence and participation helped to ensure the integrity of the process and provided an added layer of transparency. These include the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Service (DSS), and the Media.
