The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a five-man gang that has been terrorising residents of Yola, the state capital.
In a press statement issued on Monday by the spokesman of the command SP Suleiman Nguroje said, “the Adamawa State Police Command has intensified its efforts against shilla gangsterism within the state, resulting in the arrest of five suspects.”According to the statement, the suspects are: Hassan Zubairu, 18 years;
Naziru Muhammed, 20 years; Sadik Adamu,18 years; Adamu Muhammad, 20 years; and ThankGod Iliya, 18 years.
The statement explained that the suspects reside in different places within the Yola North area of the state.
“These suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Command after attacking several homes and innocent individuals with dangerous weapons, robbing them of their valuables within the state.

“Most recently, on 25/05/2024, they armed themselves with offensive weapons and attacked a house located along Port Harcourt Street, Nassarawo ward, Yola North Local Government and robbed the occupants of their phones after inflicting injuries on the occupant of the House,” the statement stressed.
The spokesman informed Arewa PUNCH that investigations conducted into their nefariius activities led to the arrest of the five suspects, while others went into hiding.
He added that five mobile phones and several offensive weapons were recovered from the arrested members.
“The suspects will be charged to court to ensure they are brought to justice,” Nguroje assured.
As a result, the Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods to the police.
