Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped some travellers in Irun Akoko of Ondo State, along Irun/ Imesi Ekiti Road in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
In the incident which was said to have occurred on Saturday around 6 pm, our correspondent learnt that the victims were travelling in an 18-seater bus when the hoodlums attacked and dragged the victims into the bush to an unknown destination.
The number of the victims was unknown as of the time of filing this report but it was confirmed that the victims were occupants of a commercial bus.
PUNCH Metro also gathered that police, soldiers and men of the Amotekun corps from Ondo and Ekiti Sstates in collaboration with some local vigilantes were combing the forests to rescue the victims.

When our correspondent contacted the state commander of the Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, he confirmed the incident but said his men were already after the hoodlums in the forest. He expressed optimism that the remaining victims would be rescued unhurt.
Adeleye said, “My men and soldiers from Ekiti are combing the forest but the hoodlums did not kidnap the whole 18 passengers in the bus. Some of the passengers escaped themselves, while our men with the soldiers recovered some of the victims in the night. Our men have combed the forest as we speak.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, also confirmed the incident but said four of the victims escaped from the scene.
“Four people came to the station and reported that while on their way from Ado Ekiti to Ikare Akoko at Oyinmo camp, Irun-Ado Ekiti Road, they were attacked by unknown gunmen but they escaped through the bush. A police search team has been deployed to the area,” the PPRO stated.
