Children Day: NSCDC remains committed to safeguarding schools – FCT Commandant assures
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has assured residents of the FCT of its commitment to protecting schools in the FCT.
The FCT Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, gave this assurance while addressing personnel during the muster parade. He said, “as we mark 2024 International Children’s Day celebrations, I want to state our resolve as a Command to ensure adequate protection of schools in the FCT.”
“We are determined to sufficiently ensure the safety of students, teaching and non-teaching staff and also the protection of infrastructure in the schools”.
The Commandant also called on members of the public to provide credible intelligence to the Command as security operatives need credible intelligence to adequately carry out their duties.

“NSCDC FCT Command is determined to ensure safety in schools across the FCT, however, we need the cooperation of all stake holders in the education sector, teachers, parents and all within the school environment. When you notice any thing out of the ordinary or any suspicious person within your environment you must notify us immediately.
“Security operatives work with information, and i want to assure you that we maintain the confidentiality of informants.”
The Commandant also said students are also not left out in the war against insecurity, he said, they must always pay attention to their surroundings, be smart, of good behaviour and report any abnormality to their school authorities or security agencies near them.
As part of activities to mark the 2024 International Children’s Day, the Female Strike Force(FSF) has commenced a sensitization tour to schools in the various Area Councils of the FCT, the Commandant said.
