The Nigeria Immigration Service said it is deploying e-border solutions in Kebbi, a northwestern state bordering Niger Republic.
This followed a two-day working visit to Kebbi State by the Service’s Comptroller-General, Kemi Nandap, for an on-the-spot assessment of the nation’s borders.
A statement signed Saturday by the Service Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Udo, quoted Nandap, saying, “The intelligence gathered from e-border solutions would be swiftly shared among the security agencies to further enhance collaboration.”
The statement is titled, ‘Border Governance: Nigeria Immigration Service sets to deploy e-border solutions in Kebbi State to enhance migration management and national security.’
During the visits from May 8 – 9, 2024, Nandap visited Governor Nasir Idris and traditional rulers of border towns to strengthen collaboration with the stakeholders on enhanced border security.
At the Governor’s office, the Comptroller-General emphasized the Service’s readiness to continue deploying advanced technology to safeguard Nigeria’s borders.
She further stressed that the e-border solutions already being deployed will help checkmate trans-border crimes and other related offenses.
