In a daring operation, law enforcement agencies in Katsina State, including the Police, Military, and Katsina Watch Corps, successfully rescued fourteen (14) kidnapped victims from the clutches of armed bandits.

The incident occurred on Thursday at approximately 1330 hrs when suspected armed bandits ambushed a KTSTA bus along the Gidan Kifi village via Kankara to Marabar Kankara road, while it was en route from Funtua to Katsina.

The attackers, armed with dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifles, targeted the bus and abducted eight (8) passengers, including the driver, Dabo Filalawa, a resident of Filin Polo quarters in Katsina State.

Upon receiving the distress call, a joint team of Police operatives from Kankara Divisional Police Headquarters, the Military, and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps swiftly mobilized and responded to the scene.

A fierce gun battle ensued between the security forces and the hoodlums, resulting in the successful rescue of all fourteen kidnapped victims.

However, efforts are ongoing to secure the safe release of the remaining four (4) kidnapped victims.

ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Katsina State Command, confirmed the operation and assured the public that aggressive efforts are being made to ensure the safety of the remaining hostages.

Further updates on this developing situation will be provided as they unfold.
