The groups led by the MACBAN chairman, Nuru Abdullahi, explained how some of their members were killed, narrating that, “More than ten herders including Malam Muhammad Sani Idris, the Chief Imam of Ndun village of Tangur District of Bokkos were killed between January 1 and 18, 2024.”
The groups further explained that they had made several attempts to meet with the state government on ways to address the lingering crisis between the herders and farmers but to no avail.
The groups while appreciating the efforts of OPSH for ensuring peace in the state also decried comments made by some stakeholders calling for self-defense, arguing that such calls would not yield lasting solutions to the problems.
The herders present however called on the security agencies to intensify efforts to prevent continuous killings of their members, calling on the present administration to carry everybody alone to ensure equity and justice.
