Gunmen on Monday invaded the Gandu community area of the Federal University of Lafia, killed a mechanic, and kidnapped his wife and daughter.
Daily Trust findings showed that the assailants stormed the community at about 7:00 pm and shot sporadically to scare residents.
It was gathered that the deceased, simply identified as Danteni, sustained a gunshot injury and died in the hospital where he was taken for treatment.
Our correspondent, who visited the residence of the deceased, observed that both the students and other residents of the area were indoors.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Rahman Nansel, confirmed the incident to our correspondent in a telephone interview.
He said one person died in the attack while the deceased’s wife and daughter were abducted by the gunmen.

In an interview with our correspondent, Abdullahi Mohammed, the district head of the Gandu community, said before security operatives could get to the scene, the kidnappers had already finished their operation and escaped.
He called on the state government to, as a matter of urgency, come to the rescue of the community by establishing a police post and stationing army personnel in the area.
