Vice President Kashim Shettima has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is committed to promoting education in the country, particularly for the girl child.

Speaking at a party organised for Children of African Leadership and Values Development Initiatives (CALDEV) in Abuja, he emphasised that educating a girl child means educating the nation.

He commended the organisers of the children’s programme for their efforts aimed at training vibrant quality leaders who will take over the country in future.

Shettima further disclosed that the federal government is committed to the welfare and well-being of all Nigerian children and has prioritised education because it is important to nation-building.

He encouraged Nigerians to support the government, adding that measures are being put in place towards a better Nigeria.

According to him, Nigerian children have been given large opportunities to excel in any part of the world they find themselves.

In his address, the Chairman and Founder of CALDEV, Hon Bamidele Salam, disclosed that the event is held every year for the children’s parliament with the sole objective of grooming future leaders for Nigeria.

He commended the VP for finding time from his busy schedule to attend the children’s event.

In his speech at the event, Deputy Speaker of Children’s Parliament, Ibrahim Zanna, urged Vice President Shettima to work hard to reduce the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

CALDEV is a non-governmental organisation established to teach and mentor children and youths for better citizenship, leadership and nationhood.
