Three killed in Delta communal clash, police arrest one
A vigilante member, Sule Ukah, and two others have been reportedly killed in the Ubulu-Uku community, the Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the vigilante member was allegedly gunned down by men suspected to be herdsmen on Monday.
A source in the community who did not want his name in print for security reasons told our correspondent that the assailants laid siege to the bush along Ubulu-Uku-Issele-Uku Road where they shot the vigilante member.
The source said the killing led to the exchange of gunfire between men of the community vigilante and the hoodlums.
“Besides the vigilante man who was shot, a commercial motorcycle operator and one other woman were also shot,” he said.

The state Commissioner of Police, Wale Abass, who confirmed the killing on Tuesday in Asaba while speaking to journalists on the achievement of the command, said two persons were killed in the attack.
He said, “There was a breach of law on Monday in Ubulu-Uku. It was a disagreement between the vigilante and members of the community.
“They ambushed the people and shot at them, as of today, two persons were killed and we have deployed tactical commands to the community to bring the situation to normalcy.
“We find out that the two groups have large numbers of supporters, also we sent additional troops.
“We want to appeal to residents not to resort to self-help. If there is a problem in the community, they should report it to the police instead of resorting to self-help.”
Abass said the command has so far arrested one person in connection to the attack while the investigation was ongoing.
On his achievements, the police boss said over 13 kidnappers, seven armed robbers, and 72 cultists have been arrested while 54 firearms, 286 ammunition and 195 cartridges were recovered.
