In a significant display of strength and resilience, the troops of Sector 3, Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Operation Hadin Kai, successfully foiled an attack launched by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on the peaceful community of Monguno in Borno State.

According to reliable intelligence sources, on Saturday, August 5, ISWAP fighters mounted on hilux trucks and motorcycles launched a daring assault on the troops stationed along Marte Axis in Monguno. A fierce and intense gun battle ensued, lasting approximately 30 minutes. The well-trained and prepared MNJTF forces effectively repelled the attack, dealing heavy blows to the terrorists’ ranks, and causing them to retreat in defeat.

The outcome of the clash resulted in significant casualties on the side of the ISWAP terrorists, with many of them falling to the superior firepower of the MNJTF troops. The remaining terrorists fled the scene, no match for the valor and dedication exhibited by the brave soldiers defending Monguno.

During the encounter, the MNJTF forces managed to recover various military equipment, including hand grenades, that were abandoned by the fleeing insurgents. However, one courageous soldier sustained injuries in the line of duty.

The MNJTF’s swift and effective response to the attack is commendable and showcases their commitment to safeguarding the region against terrorist threats. It is a testament to the unwavering determination of the troops to maintain peace and security in the Lake Chad region.
