Troops Rescue 13 Kidnap Victims In Abia
Troops from the 14 Brigade of the Nigerian Army’s 82 Division have rescued 13 kidnap victims in the Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State.
Responding to a distress call on Saturday 22nd July 2023, the soldiers found a Sienna SUV and an L300 Mitsubishi bus with Registration Number UWN 190 AL Enugu had been targeted by kidnappers along the Ngodo-Isuochi road.
The attackers had taken the passengers hostage and fled into the surrounding bushes.

Receiving additional details from witnesses at the scene, the troops pursued the kidnappers, launching a thorough search and rescue operation. Five victims were initially rescued on the first day, with an additional eight individuals found on Sunday 23rd July 2023, resulting in a total of 13 rescued persons.
In a statement released on 24th July 2023, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed that the rescued victims have been handed over to the Nigerian Police in Umunneochi.
The Nigerian Army has appealed to all law-abiding citizens to continue supporting the troops and other security agencies with timely and actionable information as they combat security challenges across the country.
