The District Head of Maisandari, Alhaji Abba Bukar has commended the Borno State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) and Girl Child Concerns, GCC, for creating a conducive environment for learning in the state.

He made the statement at the AGILE Zonal Cluster Review Meeting organized by GCC in Maiduguri, on Thursday.

In her keynote address, the Coordinator of GCC Girl’s Academy, Hajiya Hauwa Gwoma said that the zonal cluster meeting was organized to assess the impact and outcomes of the ongoing projects, identify potential areas for improvement, and develop strategies to overcome challenges.

She explained that the impact of the project in the state on girls, especially those affected by the Boko Haram insurgency cannot be overemphasized, adding that most adolescent girls are now opening up to their teachers and mentors in schools.

“They tell them about their fears, what they are going through, and their difficulties, and even seek informed advises from their teachers and mentors who have been tirelessly helping them with improved knowledge about themselves and equipping them with life skills that would enable them to maintain a healthy life in the future.”

In Borno State, the President of the All-Nigerian Conference of Principals of Secondary School, ANCOPSS, Usman Mansur Kyari has described AGILE’s intervention as “transformation,” saying they have provided schools with water, electricity, and built toilets to mitigate and curtail the spread of infections among students.

In attendance were the representative of the Borno State Ministry of Education, Vice Principals of various schools, traditional leaders, master trainers, and mentors of various schools.
