Dilapidated Roads: How Niger Gov’t Can Provide Solution

There is no doubt that any angle one intends to get to Niger State by road poses a great task. Road construction or its rehabilitation and even maintenance is highly of intensive capital and Niger state has no such resources that’s why Minna to Bida road is suffering.

It is a fact today that Niger State cannot single-handedly be able to construct very well standard roads across the State. Except it solicits for Federal intervention which could be by any of the following forms:

i- Either the State takes the loan to do the construction and pays heavily thereby other essential projects to suffer or;

ii-The Governor is persistently on the President’s neck for special attention on the issue of Niger State’s roads.

His Excellency must navigate any of these options of which I would wish His Excellency to go for the second option. This means meeting the President with the following special interventional request of:

I-The Federal Government under his kind directives to necessary Ministries undertake the construction of three standard roads within the three Senatorial Zones of the State that is:
(a)-Minna to Bida Road for
Zone A.

(b)-Identify a critical for
the road for Zone B.

(c)-Allawa to Kaduna Road
for Zone C.

His Excellency should passionately request the President to approach any preferred Company to do the construction of these roads for Niger state under Build Operate Transfer ( BOT) for the State.

These roads must have toll gates so that after some years the money spent on their construction can be recouped. Thereafter, the State can continue to use the resources for the maintenance of these roads.

The Federal Government can be advised to use three giant and promising Companies Julius Berger, Bouyeas, and Tylor Woodrow. Or any Company of her choice.

Once His Excellency can approach the President and passionately appeal for this to be done for the State, it will be a big relief to the State in all ramifications. These roads would further allow the State Government to develop other areas of the economy.

This idea should not be brushed aside as immaterial. It will be a game changer for the state that has been in untold hardship for years as far as roads in Niger State are concerned.

May we be guided?
