20 Years After, And I Became Her Teacher

By Lawan Bukar Maigana

20 years plus after she taught me at Wulari One Primary School, I coincidentally trained her today on “life skills for girls” at a training organized by Girl Child Concerns, GCC, for Maiduguri and Jere Local Government Area primary school teachers in Borno State, Nigeria.

She was able to recognize me by a look because, according to her, my face didn’t change.

She said, “It was easier for me to recognize you and even call you by your name. Masha Allah. May Allah bless your life. I am happy to reunite with you at this training.”

I had to explain to her colleagues who she was to me and how much respect I have for her because she contributed greatly to my life during my primary school days before I started discussing the topic assigned to me.

She is still energetic and passionate about her job.

Sincerely, I can’t describe how happy she and I were. Ya Allah, bless her with long life and prosperity.
