Man Remanded For Stealing Newborn Baby In Bayelsa
A magistrates’ court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, has ordered the remand of a 30-year-old man, Kingsley Solomon, at the correctional centre in the Okaka area of Yenagoa for allegedly stealing a two-month-old baby in the Azikoro area in Yenagoa LGA.
Earlier, the prosecution alleged that Solomon on June 23, 2023, on IYC Road, Azikoro, gave one Joy Lucky a blow on the left side of her eyes with the intent to steal her child and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 282 of the Criminal Code of Bayelsa State 2006.

The prosecution further told the court that Solomon on June 24, 2023, on IYC Road, Azikoro, stole a baby, Success Alfred, aged two months, the baby of Joy Lucky and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 298 (a) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap C14, of Bayelsa State 2006.
The First Information Report (FIR) further revealed that Solomon who claimed to have had an affair with Joy during her early pregnancy in a brothel was not the rightful father of Success Alfred.

Solomon who pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of assault and baby theft was handed a 15-day remand by Magistrate Sarah B.I. Avoh.
Recall that the Bayelsa State Police Command, through Eunice Nnachi of the Women Advocacy Foundation (ENWAF), arrested Kingsley Solomon following a reported assault on Joy Lucky and theft of baby Success.
