Delta 2022: National Sports Festival to Commence November 28, Says Dare

The Virtual Meeting of the National Council on Sports took place on Wednesday 19th October, 2022. In his opening remarks, the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Sunday Dare expressed appreciation to the participants for honoring the invitation to the Meeting at a very short notice. The Council deliberated on issues relating to the 21st National Sports Festival and:

i) affirmed 28th November – 10th December, 2022 as the date for the 21st National Sports Festival holding in Asaba, Delta State.

ii) approved that the three (3) compulsory Para sports in the National Sports Festival namely: Para Athletics, Para Powerlifting and Para Table Tennis would no longer feature in the National Sports Festival.

iii) approved the inclusion of Cricket in the 21st National Sports Festival.

iv) approved the demonstration of the following sports at the 21st National Sports Festival :

i) Netball
ii) Teqball
iii) Mixed Martial Art

vi)​approved 3rd – 5th November, 2022 as date for Inspection of Facilities and Joint Technical Meeting for the 21st National Sports Festival.

v) appreciated the useful contributions of all Council Members.
