Idris Gimba Turbaned as Pioneer ‘Banagari of Tangale’

The Mai Tangle, Danladi Mohammadu Sanusi, has turbaned Idris Yunusa Gimba as the first Banagari of Tangale, today at his palace in Billiri Local Government Area, Gombe State.

The traditional title of ‘Banagari’ is a unifying force in the land.

In his remarks, the Mai Tangle noted that the kingdom need someone who will bring unity in the land. He therefore promised to engage more hands in the palace towards meeting a lasting peace and stability in the Tangale and Nigeria at large.

Responding to newsmen, Gimba, said he’s aware of the task ahead and promised to bring unity in the land. He however, decried how substance and drug abuse has become rampant in the society.

As part of efforts to curb unemployment and social vices among the society, Gimba has promised to establish skills acquisition center where teaming youth can be trained and empowered so as to carter for themselves and be more productive.

It can be recalled how crisis engulfed the peace-loving people of Billiri over a chieftaincy title tussle shortly after the demise of the erstwhile Mai Tangle Abdu Buba Maisheru late last year.

Billiri, an ethnically plural community is one of the oldest settlements of the Tangales in Southern Gombe. It comprises of significant numbers of Hausas, Fulanis and Traditionalists.
