DSS Wants to ‘Internationalize’ Mamu’s Arrest – Mahdi Shehu
The Chairman of Kaduna-based Dialogue Groups, and a self-styled activist, Alhaji Mahdi Shehu, said the arrest of famous bandit negotiator, Alh. Tukur Mamu, yesterday in Egypt, by the Department of State Services (DSS), was driven by the sole intention of the Nigerian secret police to ‘internationalize’ Mamu’s alleged crime.
Mamu is the face behind the negotiation and release of some train captives, abducted by bandits in Kaduna State, on March 28.
Shehu, while featuring on an Arise Television program, monitored by Emergency Digest, said Mamu’s arrest was dehumanizing, for the fact that the bandit negotiator was not nabbed in Nigeria, but outside the country.

He said: “Why did they arrest Mamu in Egypt not in Nigeria, I think they want to internationalize the alleged crime, dehumanized Mamu, insult and probably want to paint him in a bad light.
“It is an insult. Meanwhile, we are waiting for the details. If Mamu is involved in the N2 billion ransom racketeering, there are legal provisions in our law to prosecute him.
“The arrest of Mamu is an indication of the failure of the intelligence community. Not long ago, before exit of Lawal Daura, and Tukur Buratai, most of our security agencies are not in talking time, they were not visibly visiting each other. They were jealous of each other.
“Negotiations with bandits and criminal gangs is not the responsibility and specialty of civilians. They are not trained for that. But it appears our intelligence agencies have failed woefully.
“The thing is if Mamu is found guilty, he should be made to face the full wrath of the law. But until then, we should do away with all these baseless claims”.
