Terrorists attack mosque, kill four in Borno town

Gunmen believed to be members of Boko Haram terrorists have killed four people including the chief Imam of Gima Mosque in Ngulde, a village of Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno.

Repoters learned that the attack happened on Friday morning but poor telecommunications service in the community couldn’t allow our sources to reach us until late Sunday.

Hon. Umar Biliyaminu Ngulde, a serving councilor representing a ward in the village, who confirmed this to our reporter said the terrorists also injured some people.

The last attack by the terrorists on the community was in November last year where hundreds of the residents reportedly fled to bush.

Most often the terrorists attack the community not only to harm the residents but also to steal foodstuffs especially during harvest.

As many locals have already begun harvest, Mr. Bilyaminu told our correspondent that the terrorists were not in the village to harm people.

He said the terrorists were there to rob shops and steal foodstuffs.

‘We have forgotten that these boys still exist, but unfortunately they attacked our community last Friday with AK-47 burning shops and looting foodstuffs.

`They came by foot, numbering about 20. They went straight to a mosque and asked the name of the commander of the local hunters group. When they didn’t find him, they opened fire killing three of the worshippers in the mosque,’ Hon Bilyaminu said.

According to him, two other worshipers sustained injuries, noting that one of them died on their way to the hospital.
