Building collapsed in Kano, seven people rescued 

The Kano State government yesterday suspended the swearing-in ceremony of commissioners-designate earlier scheduled for Wednesday.

The postponement was in honour of victims trapped in a three-storey building that collapsed at a GSM market along Beirut Road, Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba said.

Garba, in a statement, said the governor ordered intensified rescue effort to rescue those trapped in the rubble.

In the statement, the state government also sympathised with those affected by Monday’s flooding that occurred in many parts of the metropolis.
