Again, MNJTF Troops Repel Attack by ISWAP Terrorists in Monguno
The troops of Sector 3, Multi-National Joint Task Force(MNJTF) have repelled attacks by the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the Monguno axis of Borno state.
It was gathered that terrorists who came in gun trucks and motorcycles attacked the town with heavy weapons at about 1:30 a.m.

Zagazola reports that the terrorists were subdued by troops who engaged them in a heavy gun battle which lasted till 2:30 am forcing them to retreat.
The sources, however, did not mention the number of casualties recorded in the gunfight but believed that the attack was in retaliation to the killings of scores of ISWAP during the MNJTF offensive in the Sabon Tumbum and Jibularam in Marte Local government area.
The ISWAP terrorists had attacked Monguno town on June 18 and killed members of the Civilian Joint Task Force and Kidnapped three Humanitarian workers.
Monguno which is about 135 kilometres from Maiduguri houses camps for internally Displaced Persons.
