Nigeria Sets For Commonwealth Games
Nigeria will be joining other 71 Nations and territories to participate in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom from 28th July to 8th August, 2022.
2. The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development will be attending the Games with the following Sports which have thus far qualified:
Athletics
Boxing
Judo
Para Athletics
Para Powerlifting
Para Table Tennis
Table Tennis
Weightlifting

3. Having recently participated in the Chef de Mission Open Day Visit in Birmingham, the Ministry is taking strategic steps in ensuring that all Sports Teams for the Games are adequately prepared.
4. Athletes will be called to Camp in the month of May 2022 in different locations under the supervision of trained Coaches and other Athletes Support Personnel.
5. The concerned National Sports Federations have been requested to harmonize their Commonwealth Games Roadmap (micro) to dovetail into the Ministry’s central Strategic Plan (macro) on or before 17 April 2022.
6. The trials for selection of eligible athletes in their Sports/disciplines will be concluded on or before 25 April, 2022.
