Police, NYSC members clash in Ibadan
EMERGENCY DIGEST- Operatives of police Swift Response Squad (SRS), Oyo State, clashed yesterday with members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in the New Garage area of Ibadan, the state capital.
The incident, The Nation learnt, occurred around 1pm.
The altercation between the police and corps members caused a rowdy scene at the area, and disrupted vehicular movement.
Also, the police van with the inscription: “Anti-crime Patrol Challenge Division” was destroyed by the angry corps members.

An eyewitness, who spoke with The Nation said: “A yet-to-be-identified corps member was returning from CDS in his white tinted-Toyota Camry car, and was flagged down by the police operatives but he refused.
“He appeared drunk, and the police went after him after he didn’t stop. He then hit a tricycle.”
The eyewitness further told The Nation that the corps member refused to open the car, prompting the police to break his windscreen.
The Nation observed that other corps members returning from weekly Community Development Service (CDS) meeting in Oluyole Local Government Area, stormed the scene in solidarity with their colleague.
Chairman of Oluyole Local Government Area, Hon. Settle Olaide calmed the angry corps members.
Also, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Ngozi Onadeko drafted operatives to the scene to ensure normalcy is restored.
