Amidst extradition, NDLEA files 8-count charge against Abba Kyari, other suspects

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), on Thursday, filed an eighth-count criminal charge against the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari, and six others it alleged were involved in illicit drug trafficking.
It was earlier reported that NDLEA, in the charge it filed through a team of lawyers led by its Director, Prosecution and Legal Services, Joseph Sunday, specifically accused DCP Kyari and the four other police officers of conspiracy, obstruction, and dealing in Cocaine worth 17.55 kilograms.
Also, it alleged that Kyari and his associates, who are currently in its custody, also unlawfully tampered with 21.25kg worth of cocaine.
NDLEA’s charge against Kyari is coming on a day the Federal Government of Nigeria approved his extradition to the United States of America (USA).
The US had requested that the disgraced top police officer should be extradited over alleged $1.1million wire fraud involving Abass Ramon, popularly known as Hushpuppi and four others.
