DIA, CISM, OSMA to Strengthen Military Athletes Security, Defence Ties
The Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI) Maj.-Gen. Samuel Adebayo has said, the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) is ready to partner with International Military Sport Council (CISM), and Organisation of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA) in dealing with challenges facing some Military Athletes traveling for Sporting events to other countries.
Maj.-Gen. Samuel Adebayo disclosed this when CISM President of Brigadier General Herve Piriccillo, accompanied by Major Delphine Viard and OSMA President Organisation of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA), Maj Gen Maikano Abdullahi paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Thursday at the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) Asokoro, Abuja.
General Adebayo said, so much has been achieved by the Armed Forces of Nigeria in dealing with security issues.
He promised to ensure that Military Athletes who are representing Nigeria in Military competitions or games or officials attending CISM or OSMA General assembly enjoy foreign and domestic military intelligence.
He noted that the DIA is more secretive in its operations and maintains a larger special action force than the civilian intelligence agencies.

“Security agencies are also doing their best but much more still needs to be done. So we are giving you our total support to assist your athletes and officials during and after any sporting activities.
In his remark, the CISM President Brigadier General Herve Piriccillo thanked the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) for providing intelligence on foreign militaries and their operating environments before athletes trip to other countries for Games.
“We serve everyone from the president to the soldier in combat through a combination of expert analysis, intelligence gathering, and cutting-edge science and technology.
Established in 1986, the DIA, formerly National Security Organization (NSO), provides intelligence to the Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence.

Accompanying the CISM President during the visit are the OSMA President who also double as CISM Vice president West Africa, Maj Gen Maikano Abdullahi, OSMA Coordinator and Secretary Wing Commander Ado Mohammed, Lt Commander Funmi Fapectus, Group Captain Garuba, Miss Olayemi Esan OSMA Media Parrner Nigeria and Others.
