Driver crushes motorcyclist, flees, residents set truck ablaze in Ondo

A truck was set ablaze by angry residents in protest against the killing of a yet-to-be-identified commercial motorcyclist in Akungba Akoko in the Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

It was gathered that the incident happened on Thursday after the truck hit the deceased on his motorcycle while descending the Okerigbo Hill on the Owo-Ikare Expressway.

The motorcyclist was said to have died on the spot.

According to PUNCH, an eyewitness, who did not want to be identified, said immediately the incident happened, the truck driver fled the scene.

The witness said, “What infuriated people was the disappearance of the truck driver. He fled immediately he killed the Okada man. That was why they set the vehicle on fire.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident, but said she had yet to get details as of the time of filing this report.
