ICMPD, Nigerian Immigration Service Collaborate for Personnel Training

The International Centre For Migration Policy Development, ICMPD, Nigeria is to collaborate with the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, in the area of training and capacity building to boost the morale of NIS personnel.

The Head of ICMPD, West Africa Office, Mrs. Mojisola Sodeyinde, made this known during the signing of MOU and inauguration of a Steering Committee for the project, held in Abuja.

Mrs. Sodeyinde noted that in view of the challenges faced by NIS, the project became imperative to reposition the Service for greater efficiency, in line with international best practices.

In his goodwill message, Ambassador of Denmark to Nigeria, Sune Krogstrup said for effectiveness and efficiency of Nigeria’s border management his country will strengthening NIS’ ability to manage and facilitate cross border movements.

While innuagrating the steering committee for the project, Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who commended ICPMD for the collaboration, explained that the project will help to strengthen the institutional capacity of NIS.

The Minister assured that the Federal government would continue to provide an enabling environment for its foreign partners.
