Seedbuilders Foundation launches counseling project for GBV victims
A non-governmental organisation, NGO, known as Seedbuilders Foundation, has launched a ‘humanitarian’ project to cater for victims of Gender-Based Violence, GBV, in the country.
The initiative tagged: “Seedbuilders Safe Space,” is designed to offer protection, support and empowerment to victims of GBV, regardless of their gender.
The project was commissioned at the Foundation’s office building in Abuja on Friday.
Welcoming guests to the event, Mr. Olaoluwa Olorunnisomo, said the ‘Safe Space’ project was created to give young girls and women access to Counselling and Therapy, Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) information, Legal and Medical Consultations, Mentorship, Skills and Capacity Building and links to other services such as law enforcement agencies, peer connection and support.

Olorunnisomo, a co-Founder of the Foundation, decried the alarming rate at which GBV is perpetrated across the country, however expressing belief that the menace can be tackled with concerted efforts of key stakeholders.
He stressed the need for people to be educated about the effects of GBV, calling on government and wealthy individuals to fund and support organisations that have gender-based violence mission.
Olorunnisomo, disclosed that the opening hours for counseling and therapy in their ‘Safe Space’ program is on Tuesdays between 10am and 4pm.
“While on Thursdays, it is between the same 9am and 4pm for SRH Information, Legal and Medical Consultations, Mentorship, Skills and Capacity Building and other services,” he added.
Representative of the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, Mrs. Kehinde Akomolafe, lauded the efforts of Seedbuilders in combating GBV, assuring the Foundation of their Agency’s support.
