Abductors Of Taraba Monarch Demand N25m Ransom

Abductors of the district head of Amar in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State have demanded a ransom of N25 million for his release.

Alhaji Abdulkadir Suleiman, the district head of Amar, was abducted by unknown gunmen at 1am Sunday in his palace.

The Monarch’s son and about 20 other people were also abducted in the same area within the last week.

It was learnt that the unknown gunmen also raped many women in the area within the same period.

Daily Trust learnt that the abductors have called the family of the monarch early Monday morning and demanded a N25 million ransom.

The abductors did not however demand ransom for the son of the Monarch and 20 others they abducted.

Amar, a town located by the bank of River Benue has been under constant attack by bandits who were operating from a forest located at a border area between Taraba and Plateau states.

The family members of the monarch, it was gathered, are negotiating with the abductors in an attempt to arrive at a reasonable amount to be paid as ransom.

The Police’s spokesperson in the state, DSP Usman Abdullahi, confirmed the abduction of the monarch and others.

“The DPO confirmed to me the abduction of the traditional ruler and others but l don’t know the number of the other persons abducted,” DSP Usman said.
