Police arrest robber who disguised as Fulani herder

A robbery suspect, Biodun Rasheed, who dressed like a Fulani herder has been arrested by the operatives of the Ogun Police Command, during a robbery operation.

The suspect was arrested following a distress call received by policemen at Kemta divisional headquarters in Odeda Local Government Area.

The police were informed that robbers were operating at Mile 6 along Ajebo road, Abeokuta.

The Police Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Thursday told newsmen that following the distress call, the DPO of Kemta division, CSP Opebiyi Sunday, quickly mobilised his patrol team who were joined by men of So Safe Corps and Vigilante Group of Nigeria and moved to the scene.

“On sighting the security men, the robbers took to their heels, but they were chased and one of them, Rasheed, who dressed like a Fulani herder to hide his identity, was arrested on the spot,” he said.

Oyeyemi said the suspect “is currently helping the police in their efforts to apprehend the remaining members of the gang.”

He quoted the commissioner of police, Lanre Bankole, to have ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
