WAMY Provides Eye Medical Services to 8,730 Persons in Jigawa

EMERGENCY DIGEST- At least 8,730 persons in Jigawa State have benefitted from free eye medical services provided by the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY).

WAMY in conjunction with Mallam Inuwa Foundation also provided medicated glasses to patients in the four-day medical outreach which ended on Wednesday.

The outreach was supported by the Jigawa State Government.

Chairman Board of Trustee of the Foundation, Ahmed Inuwa disclosed that the exercise would go a long way in reducing the burden and prevalence blindness and eye diseases in the communities.

He further disclosed that some of the beneficiaries included men, women and children from various local government areas of the state.

“During the medical exercise free cataract surgery was conducted on 637 patients, medical glasses provided to 500 Patients while free drugs and treatments were provided to 7,593 Patients.”

The Chairman of the Management Committee of the Foundation, Dr Yusuf Hussaini Baban expressed gratitude to the Qatari government for sponsoring the medical outreach.

Baban said: “We are indeed grateful for the good gestures of leadership and people of Qatar who prpvided the funds and facilities in helping mankind and promoting peaceful coexistence and good conducts across the world.

“We will continue to partner with such humanitarian organisations in seeking the mercy and blessing of almighty Allah by assisting the needy who are facing eyes problems and health challenges and uniting the people.

Mohammed Bashir Dauda, Foundation Treasurer, said the charity work was to assist vulnerable communities and persons who lack the wherewithal to undergo eye surgeries.
