43-Year-old Father Beats Two-Month-old Baby to Death for Crying
EMERGENCY DIGEST- A 43-year-old father, Sanjo, has allegedly beaten his two-month-old baby to death.
The father, arrested by the Osun State Government, stated that his wife left him alone with the baby, and when her cry became persistent, he got angry and beat her to death.
According to the suspect, the baby was the third child he had killed after killing his two children due to poverty.
The State Commissioner for Women, Children and Social Affairs, Barrister Olubukola Olaboopo, in a statement, said the man, who lived around the Alekuwodo area, was apprehended following a tipoff from a neighbor.

The statement quoted Sanjo saying: “I got married to my wife in 2008, and God blessed us with five children. It was the third child that I beat, unintentionally, to death.
“My wife left the child with me while she was going out, and the baby started crying. I did all I could to pacify her, but she kept crying.
“Something just came upon me, and I beat the two months old baby to death. My wife and I buried the child on our farmland.”
During an interrogation with his wife, she stated that she conspired with her husband to kill two children.
“I gave birth to five babies out of which four are dead and the 5th being the newly born. We decided to kill two of the babies due to poverty while we dumped the third one around Technical area in Osogbo.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner assured that the perpetrator would be made to face the full consequences of his action.
