Police arrest siblings for kidnapping, murder

The Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) has arrested two brothers over  alleged  kidnapping  and murder of a suspected informant.

The suspects, Abubakar Suleiman 36, and Awalu Suleiman, 25, natives of Manufashi Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State were arrested by operatives led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Tunji Disu.

The Nation gathered that the operatives, acting on a tip-off, apprehended Abubakar, alleged to have extorted and kidnapped several people in Kaduna.

His modus operandi, it was learnt, included threatening people to pay his gang a certain amount of money or risk being kidnapped only to still abduct the victims when they bring the amount requested.

One of their victims was a certain Alhaji Abass, who owned a filling station.

Abubakar, his younger brother, Awalu, and other gang members were said to have threatened Abass to pay them N300,000 which must be brought to a specific location to stop them from kidnapping him.

“Out of fear, the man complied and took the money to them at the location they requested. Instead of letting him go, they held him hostage until N500,000 more was paid.

“They have done it to many other victims. They also go to people’s homes to kidnap them. They kidnapped two Igbo men who sell medicine in the community.

“Based on intelligence report, the elder brother was arrested. When the younger brother, Awalu, heard his brother had been arrested, he went to the suspected informant’s house, one Isah Abdul, and killed him. Isah Abdul lived in Zaria but he was killed at Manufashi,” said a source.
