Coup D’etat: Guinea President, Alpha Conde Toppled
The bug of military coup d’etat in Africa has once again bitten Republic of Guinea as soldiers on Sunday seized incumbent President Alpha Conde.
Heavy artillery sounds were heard around the Presidential Palace on Sunday in Conakry heralding the take over government by the military.
Emergency Digest gathered from foreign news agencies that Special Forces in Conakry, the capital of Guinea have whisked away President Conde from the Presidential Palace to Kaloum Hotel in the capital city.

Although the leader of the Special Forces who staged the coupe d’etat have appeared on television to address the nation, reports said President Conde who was seen seating dressed in a casual wear claimed that he is still in charge.
However, the coupists may meet a brick wall to cling to power as West African nations abhor a military coup d’etat against a democratically elected governments.
Therefore, it will not be long before ECOWAS Heads of State and Governments will activate the military organ of the regional body, ECOMOG to deal with the soldiers if diplomatic way of resolving Guinea problem fails.
