Navy set to establish base in Kano

The Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo says the Naval board has approved the establishment of a naval base in Kano, which is aimed at enhancing security in the State and the Nation at large.

Gambo announced this when he paid a visit to Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at Government House in Kano, on Wednesday.

He said the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari was working tirelessly in enhancing the security architecture of the country, which includes the establishment of additional Naval bases in different parts of the Country.

The Naval Chief noted that the base when completed would contribute in the Aspect of showcasing the efforts of the Armed forces at keeping the country one indivisible entity.

He commended Kano State Government for allocating hectares of land in Dawakin Tofa where the Naval Base would be established in the state.

“We appreciate your kind gesture for allocating the land to the Nigerian Navy, and I’m happy to inform you that a naval Base Commander has already been appointed, this is a demonstration of our commitment to ensure that the base became a reality”

In a remark, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje applauded federal government efforts in enhancing the security of the Nation.

Ganduje said establishing a naval Base in Kano was a great milestone towards addressing security challenges, saying Kano had befitting security Strategies, which was the reason behind its successes
