NAF rescues kidnapped victims from abductors in Zamfara
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) alpha jet under Operation Hadarin Daji in Zamfara State has foiled an attempt by kidnappers to abduct some commuters in Gusau, the state capital.
It was gathered that a fighter jet, while returning from an aerial operation, noticed the kidnappers on motorcycles when they blocked Magami – Gusau road, attempting to kidnap the commuters.
An intelligence source attached to the operation confirmed that the incident occurred at a location that was approximately 19.5 nautical miles South West of Gusau town, between Magami and Tofa communities.
“Four vehicles were captured, including two Golf Volkswagen sedans in Grey and Red colours off the roadside with all doors ajar

“About 2 kilometres into the bush, the suspected kidnappers were seen with some people already abducted as they were being taken into the bushes.
“When the kidnappers noticed the presence of the Alpha jet, they abandoned their motorcycles and fled into the bush in disarray while the commuters ran back to their vehicles and the drivers drove off in hurry.
“The pilot exercised restraint in engaging with ammunition onboard the Alpha jet to avoid any unintended injury to the innocent citizens. However, the aircraft maintained maximum presence over the exact kidnap point to ensure the safety of innocent citizens within the area,” the source said.
Attempt to reach the NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet on the incident proved abortive as his mobile line was switched off.
