Customs Hands Over Seized N10.4m Worth Of Cannabis To NDLEA

 

Federal Operation Unit (FOU) Zone ‘B’ of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has handed over seized 250 parcels of cannabis also known as Indian Hemp worth N10,441,977.50 to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Performing the handing over yesterday at the headquarters of the FOU Zone ‘B’ in Kaduna, the comptroller, Al-Bashir Hamisu said the seizure was among several other contrabands that was seized from 6th July – 2nd August 2021.

According to the comptroller, a total of 70 seizures of various items worth N278,581,280.78 Duty Paid Value (DPV) was made within the period under review.
Other seized items include 371 packs/bottles of unregistered

pharmaceutical products including codeine, 727 cartons of foreign spaghetti/macaroni, 493 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 287 cartons/sacks of foreign tea, 147 bales of foreign second-hand clothing, 105 cartons of foreign Eva soap/Giv soap.

Other items are 100 pieces of foreign empty sacks, 60 kegs of foreign vegetable oil, 55 cartons of foreign sweets and candy, 55 cartons of foreign condoms, 14 sacks of foreign mosquito coil, 10 units of used vehicles (five deposited in Kaduna, three in Kano while two are in Katsina).

Comptroller Hamisu said the customs would not relent in its efforts to bring the activities of smugglers to a standstill.
