Governor receives NYSC DG, bans night journey with corp members
Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, on Thursday, instructed Transport Companies operating in the State to desist from conveying corps members at night, henceforth.
He spelt this out when he received Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, the Director of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
He said any company found flouting the directive will be sanctioned accordingly.
The Governor, thanked the NYSC DG for his empathy and responsiveness to the plight of the prospective corps members, adding that the visit was a mark of honour to the deceased families and the State at large.

Gen. Ibrahim, visited Emmanuel to condole with Government and people of Akwa-Ibom over the death of four prospective corps members, who are indigenes of the State.
The deceased, alongside, 11 others, were involved in a road traffic accident (RTA) along Abuja-Lokoja Expressway on Wednesday.
They were reporting to an orientation camp for their one-year compulsory national service.
In his condolence message, delivered personally to Governor Emmanuel, the NYSC boss, expressed shock over the demise of the ‘promising patriots who were full of enthusiasm and vigour to serve their fatherland’.
He added that the death of the prospective corps members is a great loss not only to their families and Akwa-Ibom State, but the entire NYSC and the nation, at large.
Brig. Gen. Ibrahim, prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and quick recovery of the injured persons, assuring that the NYSC management will accord them all necessary care and attention.
