2 Killed As Thugs Clash In Ibadan
Two youths were said to have been killed in a gang war between the youths of Inalende, Abebi and Oopo area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Thursday.
Daily Trust reports that two people were allegedly killed on Wednesday in the Iwo-road area when shop owners and members of NURTW engaged in fight for all.
It was gathered that the clash started Wednesday when the youths from Inalende killed two people in Oopo with the support of the youths from Abebi.
Daily Trust reports that Oopo, Abebi and Inalende are close areas in the heart of Ibadan, the state capital.
A reliable source in the area who gave the names of the victims as Transformer and Ishaja said the crisis is the usual clashes between the youths in the affected areas.
The source said the youths are still in the area vowing to retaliate the killing of their members despite the heavy presence of the security agencies in the areas.
He said: “I am confirming it. I am a newspaper vendor but I don’t want you to mention my name. The two boys are already down as I speak with you. Police and NSCDC are here to maintain peace but those guys are still threatening to retaliate. I wish the police can still reinforce to our area to ensure more lives are not lost.”
A photojournalist who craved for anonymity told our correspondent that: “They killed two people already. We are yet to know those behind the attack. Police are yet to get here. I have called the PPRO but he denied killing two people. But you know it is my area and I heard from a reliable source that Isaja and transformer have been killed,” he said.
The Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Adewale Osifeso, did not pick his calls and a text message sent to him was not replied.
