Adamawa Police Neutralizes Kidnapper, Rescued Victim

EMERGENCY DIGEST- Operatives of the Adamawa Police Command have rescued a kidnap victim and killed a suspected kidnapper.

The police achieved the feat by overpowering the suspected kidnappers in a gun battle.

A statement by Adamawa police spokesman, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, said the incident happened in a remote side of Zumo Rock in Song Local Government Area.

Nguroje said the police received a distress call on Monday, May 31 from one Yahaya Muhammed, a resident of Gola village, Song LGA, that his son had been kidnapped.

He said Muhammed had explained in the midnight of May 28, 2021, four armed men invaded his house and kidnapped his 22-year-old son, Usman Manu, after holding the family hostage.

Nguroje added the kidnappers later called Yahaya Muhammed and demanded N3 million ransom for his son, directing him to take the ransom to them at a remote side of Zumo mountain.

The police then swung into action, according to Nguroje, who explained Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Adamu Alhaji, immediately deployed men and officers of the command to augment the strength of the operatives of Song Division.

The Song Division, Nguroje said, were already working with vigilante operatives.

”In an attempt to escape, the suspects fired sporadically to scare our men but when fire was returned, one of the kidnappers was neutralised and the kidnapped victim rescued unharmed,” Ngutoje stated.

He said the commissioner of police commended the DPO of Song Division and members of vigilante for their resilience, and gave assurance of the command to protect the lives and property of Adamawa people
