Delta cult clash leaves 5 dead, 3 others apprehended
EMERGENCY DIGEST- No fewer than five persons have reportedly died from a fierce cult clash between Vikings, also known as Baggers and Aiye Confraternity cult groups in Okunoho, Jesse, Ethiope East local government area of Delta State
DAILY INDEPENDENT gathered that the cult-related killings which have been ongoing for a week have left the resident around the Delta State Polytechnic, Oghara in fear.
It was learnt that the rival cult clash led to the death of two cultists while three who wanted to escape through the Jesse River, met their waterloo after they got drown in the river.
While speaking to a student of the school who identified herself as Grace, she said: “I have been trying to leave the school area since last week but I am scared to come out of my room because the cultists are ransacking hotels.”

A human rights activist, Comrade Victor Ojei, who broadcasted the incident, disclosed that four other cultists who escaped through the bush were arrested by combined efforts of Jesse Divisional Police officers, members of the Anti-cult Volunteer Corps, Vigilante group and the Jesse Community Youths.
In a related development, one has been confirmed dead after a members of rival cult clashed in Asaba, Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the unidentified victim was killed along the popular Nnebisi road at about 10pm on Monday.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, who confirmed the incident noted that he has no details yet, said: “Two people died, and 4 arrested.”
