Sallah celebration: Police to provide security in all public places.
Niger State Police Command has assured the people of the state of sufficient deployment of personnel to the Eid-el praying ground, recreation centres, and other public places across the twenty-five (25) Local Government areas during the forthcoming Eid-el-fitr celebration in the state.
The State Police in a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun said adequate security would be provided before, during and after the celebrations.
The statement called on parents and guardians to caution their wards against any act of public disturbance such as youth restiveness, thuggery, sara-suka, yan-daba, horse-riding, and car drifting.
“The Command will not hesitate to clamp down on any miscreant who may want to use the period to foment trouble or cause any disruption of public peace.”
The state Police maintained that the ban on traditional horse-riding and the use of fireworks, knockouts, bangers and other explosive devices is still in force.
“Anyone found riding horse for any celebration shall be arrested and such horse will be confiscated,” Abiodun stated.
While, wishing all Muslim Umma in the state a joyous and hitch-free celebration he said, “the command assures Nigerlites of peaceful celebration and calls on members of the public to exhibit a high level of security consciousness before, during and after the celebration, and report any suspicious movement of persons to the Police and other security agencies for immediate intervention.”
