Police arrest vigilante for allegedly killing herdsmen in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested four persons for allegedly killing a Fulani herdsman in the Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police CP, Abutu Yaro, disclosed this on Saturday while briefing journalists on the command’s scorecard during his 21 days in office.

He said, “On January 12, four persons, Lawali Tambai, Abubakar Usman, Sa’idu Mamman and Ibrahim Adamu, who belonged to a vigilante group, allegedly killed a Fulani herdsman, Babuga Danmalam.

“On receipt of the report, the police in collaboration with the district head of the village arrested the above named suspects in connection with the case.”

The commissioner said the suspects were in police custody undergoing investigation and would be charged to court.

Yaro also stated that operatives of the command killed one bandit, arrested two others and rescued eight kidnapped victims during the period.

He added, “Similarly, 200 stolen cows, six AK-47 rifles and three vehicles were recovered within the last two weeks. Fifteen persons were arrested in the Shinkafi Local Government Area of the state in possession of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.”
