#LekkiShooting: British parliament proposes international probe
Members of the British parliament on Monday expressed reservations in the ability of the Lagos state panel of inquiry to adequately investigate the event of October 20 at the Lekki toll gate.
At the debate of a public petition calling for sanctions against Nigerian government officials, Members of Parliament believed a panel made up of Human Rights Watch and other independent global human rights bodies should be set up.

The parliament cited continuous denial by the Nigerian authorities and the military, coupled with attempts by government officials to suppress the truth and intimidate critical voices as reasons for the call.
British parliament, therefore, called for the constitution of an independent international panel to investigate the shooting of unarmed protesters in Lekki.
Members also enjoined the British government to stand in solidarity with young Nigerians and defend their rights to life and protest.
