Troops Rescue 3 Abductees, Nab Zamfara Illegal Miners
Three persons, who were kidnapped by armed bandits in Zamfara State, have been rescued at Sabon Tunga and Tamuske villages.
They were rescued by troops of Operation Accord, who also eliminated three of the bandits, during a clearance operation.
According to a statement issued by the Defence Media Operations (DMO), the troops, supported by Nigerian Air Force helicopter gunships bombarded bandits’ enclaves at Dutsen Emai.
The DMO, also disclosed that following credible intelligence on activities of illegal miners at Kadauri general area in Maru Local Government of Zamfara, troops swiftly mobilized to the scene and apprehended 11 suspected illegal miners.
Its Coordinator, Maj. Gen. John Enenche, in the statement, said the suspects have been handed over to the appropriate prosecuting authority for further action.
He also added that troops, on 21 November 2020 while on covert
operation at Galadi village in Shinkafi Local Government, made contact with bandits.
During the operation, he said, two bandits were neutralised while 2 AK-47 rifles were recovered.
“In another development, still on same 21 November 2020, troops while on routine patrol at Gobirawa village made contact with armed bandits. During the encounter, six armed bandits were neutralised, while 4 AK-47 rifles, 3 Dane guns and 2 motorcycles were recovered,” Maj. Gen. Enenche, added.
