Tension in Delta Community as gunmen kill two vigilantes
There was serious tension in Delta State on Sunday as gunmen shot to death two members of the Ovwian Community Vigilante group in Udu, Udu Local Government Area.
Details as to why the vigilante men were killed were still sketchy at the time of this report.
It is not also clear if the gunmen took away the rifles belonging to the local security men.
The remains of the deceased men have been deposited at the morgue by the Police.
The Ovwian/Aladja Divisional Police Officer, CSP Mohammed Mu’Azu declined comments on the matter. He said,”I have already communicated to the State Command. You know I don’t speak on such issues.”
When contacted for comments, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the report in a telephone chat with Our Correspondent in Warri.
The Police Image Maker said, “It’s true” but didn’t give details on the matter.
It would be recalled that a vigilante man shot an Ijaw girl dead in the presence of her mother in the same Community barely a week to this incident.
