In Katsina, Borno, Troops Kill 3 Bandits, Many Terrorists
Troops of Operation Accord, on Sunday, neutralized three armed bandits in Katsina State, but several others escaped with various degree of gunshot wounds.
The troops, who were on a Night patrol at Yar Tasha village, made contact with armed bandits and engaged them in firefight. The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), said three AK-47 rifles were recovered during the operation.
The DHQ, also disclosed that, following credible intelligence on movement of bandits, troops conducted fighting patrol to Natsinta and Dawanna villages in Jibia Local Government Area, along Katsina-Jibia road.
Maj. Gen. John Enenche, in a statement, said 10 suspected bandits migrating with rustled livestock, were arrested, in the course of operation.
According to Enenche, Coordinator of the Defence Media Operations (DMO), the suspects claimed that they migrated from Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State to Niger Republic, while been interrogated.
He said the suspects were arrested with 88 cows and unconfirmed number of sheep.
Meanwhile, the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Lafiya Dole has inflicted heavy casualties on Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) in the Sambisa Forest area of Borno State.
This was achieved through multiple air strikes executed on Saturday at Gobara and the Sambisa ‘S’ Region, used by the BHTs as logistics bases, as well as staging areas to launch attacks.
Enenche, said the ATF dispatched appropriate force packages of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) attack aircraft to engage the target areas, adding that, “Several BHTs were spotted under the dense vegetation of the locations as the NAF jets took turns in attacking the targets, neutralizing some of them.”
