El-Rufai orders house-to-house search for looted COVID-19 palliatives

Security operatives in Kaduna State have launched a house-to-house search for the COVID-19 relief materials looted by some hoodlums across the state.

Confirming the operation on Tuesday via his Twitter handle, Governor Nasir El-Rufai, his administration intends to bring anyone who has stolen any item to justice.

According to him, stealing and destruction of property will not be tolerated in the state.

“KADUNA UPDATE: We intend to bring each and everyone of them to justice.

“Stealing and destruction of property in the guise of #EndSARS will not be tolerated in Kaduna State. Thanks” he wrote.

In the wake of widespread looting of warehouses of COVID-19 relief items, including that of National Agency for Food & Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, where drugs were kept, the state government imposed a curfew to stem the rising tide of public disobedience in the state.

A statement by the state commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, also warned the looters against using the looted the items, saying that they are harmful to health.

Mr Aruwan, therefore, appealed to the public for information on the identities of the looters and where they might be hiding the stolen items.
